A 1-on-1 review is a collaborative process designed to facilitate meaningful conversations between employees and managers. This article will guide you through the three simple stages of every review cycle, ensuring you know exactly what to do at each point. A gauge on each review indicates which stage you're currently in.
Stage 1: Prepare your review
During the preparation phase, both the employee and their manager work on the review questionnaire independently. The answers you provide here will form the foundation of your interview meeting discussion.
Navigate to the Reviews tab from your homepage.
Find the review you want to work on and click Start preparing.
Fill out the questionnaire. If you're reviewing past goals or setting new ones, you can add your self-assessment and suggest draft objectives during this step.
Once you’ve finished, click Confirm and finish. This will share your answers with the other participant.
📌 Note: You don’t have to complete your preparation in one sitting. Click the Save button at any time to save a draft and return to it later.
Skipping the preparation stage
If you prefer to have a more spontaneous discussion, you can skip the preparation phase and move directly to the interview meeting.
To do this, click the three-dots menu on the interview line and select Skip the preparation.
Stage 2: Hold the interview meeting
This stage begins once both you and the other participant have shared your preparation answers. The interview meeting is where you discuss the responses, and the manager can take notes and build the official interview report directly in app.
When you're ready to begin, click Start the interview. A new section will appear for writing the report, and the prepared answers can be used as a basis for the conversation.
Stage 3: Validate the review
Validation is the final step, where both the employee and manager formally agree on the contents of the review report.
Either the employee or the manager can validate the review first—there is no specific order. Once both participants have validated the report, the review is complete and locked.
⚠️ Important: Once a review is validated, its answers can no longer be edited or changed by unless the review is reopened by HR.
