Okta with SCIM

⚠️ If you’re already using Javelo and have users in the app, please read Preparing Javelo for External User Source Integration before proceeding.

Supported features

  • Push New Users

    • New users created through Okta will also be created in Javelo.

  • Push Profile Updates

    • Updates made to the user's profile through Okta will be pushed to Javelo.

  • Push User Deactivation

    • Deactivating the user or disabling the user's access to the application through Okta will deactivate the user in Javelo.

  • Reactivate Users

    • User accounts can be reactivated in the application.

  • Group Push

    • Group creations and updates made through Okta will be reflected in Javelo along with their memberships.


Requirements

Before you configure provisioning for Javelo in Okta, you must first enable Okta integration in Javelo to obtain the API Token.

⚠️ Your Javelo account needs some high privileges to achieve this step. Please contact the support if you can not access the integration page.

  1. Go to “Settings" (⚙️ icon) in the upper right corner of your Javelo account

  2. Select “Integrations” from the navigation menu under the Company section

  3. Click on "Configuration" in Okta integration panel

  4. Click on "Activate Okta"

    The activation will generate a token. Copy the token and paste it in your OKTA interface to start the synchronization.

    ❗ Please note that the token is only displayed once. If you fail to store it, you will need to generate a new one directly through this integration configuration modal.


SCIM Configuration Steps

1. On the General tab:

  • Select Edit

  • Check Do not display application icon to users

  • Check Do not display application icon in the Okta Mobile app

  • Click Save

Enable SCIM

2. Search for the application name in the search bar, here, Javelo

  • Click on the tab Provisioning

  • Click on Configure API Integration

  • Check Enable API integration

  • Fill the API token and click Test API Credentials

3. A success message should appear

4. Click Save

5. Select To App in the left panel then click Edit

6. Enable Create users Enable Update User Attributes Enable Deactivate Users Click Save


Setup / modify SCIM mapping

  1. Click on the Directory tab

  2. Click on the Profile editor tab

  3. Click on Mapping

  4. Click on Okta User to Javelo

5. Setup the mapping

6. Select the option you want for each field

👉 managerUserName is mapped with the field "managerId". That field should be filled with the manager’s email.


Add users and groups to the synchronization

1. Go to Applications

From the main interface, select Applications:

2. Open the application Javelo

Select Javelo app by clicking on the name:

3. Select the Assignments tab in the application page

4. Click on “Assign” and select “Assign to people” or "Assign to Groups"

Assigning People

Click on “Assign” and select “Assign to people”:

On the newly opened modal, find the people you want to be synchronized with Javelo and click on “Assign”:

You will see a list of attributes for this person, and at the end you can click on “Save and Go back"

The information of this person will now be synchronized with Javelo!

Assigning Groups

Click on “Assign”and select “Assign to Groups”:

On the newly opened modal, find the group you want to be synchronized with Javelo and click on “Assign”:

You will see a list of attributes for this Group, and at the end you can click on “Save and Go back".

This group and its people will now be synchronized with Javelo!
